By default all built-in Business Rules are disabled, so they are not effective until you enable them.
Before using Create User Home Directory and Rename User Home Directory Rules, you need to specify your network path for the home directory of users that are created or renamed.
For example, \\SERVER\SHARE\User Home Directories\%username%, where
Using the %username% pattern is essential as it allows to create unique home directories for each user. If you don't specify this pattern in the home directory path, home directories of all users will have the same location.
The built-in Business Rule actions and conditions can be modified to meet your company needs. For example, if you do not want to delete user home directories when a user is deleted, you need to remove the Delete the home directory action. Also, if you want to store home directories of deleted users in a specific folder, you need to replace the
Delete the home directory action with the
Move the home directory action.
Initially, activity scope for built-in Business Rules includes all objects. It means that these Business Rules are applied when users or InetOrgPersons are created, deleted or renamed in any location in Managed Domains. However, you can delete this assignment and assign any built-in Business Rule on resources on which you want to apply it. Or you can just exclude the resources for which you do not want this Rule to be effective.
