To simplify Property Pattern management, built-in Property Patterns are provided with Softerra Adaxes. Built-in Property Patterns are created for commonly used object types and contain general constraints and value generation templates. These constraints and templates can be customized to meet your company needs.
Built-in Property Patterns include:
This Property Pattern defines formatting constraints and value generation templates for the following properties of computer objects:
Computer Name
regexp constraint: the property value can contain letters (a-z, A-Z), numbers (0-9), and hyphens (-), but no spaces or periods (.), and the name may not consist entirely of digits.
the maximum length: 63 characters.
set as required.
Computer Name (pre-Windows 2000)
value generation: the value is generated automatically on creating computer objects and is composed of the Computer Name property plus the dollar sign (%cn%$). For example, if Computer Name value is MY COMPUTER, the value of the Computer Name (pre-Windows 2000) property is generated automatically as MY COMPUTER$.
regexp constraint: the property value can contain letters (a-z, A-Z), numbers (0-9), and hyphens (-), but no spaces or periods (.). The name may not consist entirely of digits and should end with a dollar sign ($).
the maximum length: 16 characters.
set as required.
Display Name
value generation: the value is generated automatically on creating and editing computer objects and is composed of the Computer Name property plus the dollar sign (%cn%$). For example, if Computer Name value is MY COMPUTER, the value of the Display Name property is generated automatically as COMPUTER$.
This Property Pattern defines formatting constraints and value generation templates for the following properties of contact objects:
Country
possible values: two-character country codes based on ISO 3166. In the user interface, these values are displayed as the full name of countries.
Display Name
value generation: the value is generated automatically on creating and editing contact objects and is composed of the First Name and Last Name properties (%firstname% %lastname%). For example, if First Name value is John and Last Name value is Doe, the value of the Display Name property is generated automatically as John Doe.
regexp constraint: the property value can contain valid email addresses only.
Exchange Alias
value generation: the value is generated automatically on establishing e-mail address for contacts. The alias is composed of the First Name and Last Name properties (%firstname% %lastname%) of the contact, for which an e-mail address is established. For example, if First Name value is John and Last Name value is Doe, the alias is generated automatically as JohnDoe.
This Property Pattern item is effective in the Establish E-mail Address dialog only. |
Full Name
value generation: the value is generated automatically on creating contact objects and is composed of the First Name and Last Name properties (%firstname% %lastname%). For example, if First Name value is John and Last Name value is Doe, the value of the Full Name property is generated automatically as John Doe.
set as required.
This Property Pattern defines formatting constraints and value generation templates for the following properties of groups:
Group Name (pre-Windows 2000)
value generation: the value is generated automatically on creating group objects and is composed of the Group Name property (%cn%). For example, if Group Name value is Administrators, the value of the Group Name (pre-Windows 2000) property is generated automatically as Administrators.
regexp constraint: the property value cannot contain the following characters: / \ [ ] : ; | = , + * ? < >
the maximum length: 256 characters.
set as required.
regexp constraint: the property value can contain valid email addresses only.
Exchange Alias
value generation: the value is generated automatically on establishing e-mail address for groups. The alias is set as the value of the Group Name (pre-Windows 2000) property (%samAccountName%) of the group, for which an e-mail address is established. For example, if the Group Name (pre-Windows 2000) value is Administrators, the alias is generated automatically as Administrators.
This Property Pattern item is effective in the Establish E-mail Address of Groups dialog only. |
This Property Pattern defines constraints for the following properties of organizational units:
Country
possible values: two-character country codes based on ISO 3166. In the user interface, these values are displayed as the full name of countries.
This Property Pattern defines formatting constraints and value generation templates for the following properties of user objects:
User Logon Name (pre-Windows 2000)
value generation: the value is generated automatically on creating users and is composed of the first character of the First Name property and the value of the Last Name property (%firstname,1% %lastname%). For example, if First Name value is John and Last Name value is Doe, the value of the User Logon Name (pre-Windows 2000) property is generated automatically as JDoe.
regexp constraint: the property value cannot contain the following characters: / \ [ ] : ; | = , + * ? < >
the maximum length: 20 characters.
set as required.
Country
possible values: two-character country codes based on ISO 3166. In the user interface, these values are displayed as the full name of countries.
Display Name
value generation: the value is generated automatically on creating and editing users and is composed of the First Name and Last Name properties (%firstname% %lastname%). For example, if First Name value is John and Last Name value is Doe, the value of the Display Name property is generated automatically as John Doe.
regexp constraint: the property value can contain valid email addresses only.
Exchange Alias
value generation: the value is generated automatically on creating a mailbox or establishing an e-mail address for users. The alias is set as the value of the User Logon Name (pre-Windows 2000) property (%username%) of the user, for which an Exchange mailbox is created or an e-mail address is established. For example, if User Logon Name (pre-Windows 2000) value is JohnDoe, the alias is generated automatically as JohnDoe.
This Property Pattern item is effective in the Create Mailbox and Establish E-mail Address dialogs only. |
Exchange Mailbox Store
mailbox store selection: when creating mailboxes for users, all available Exchange mailbox stores are selected by turn. After a mailbox is created in a certain mailbox store, the next mailbox store in the turn is automatically selected another time a mailbox is created. In such a way, all allowed mailboxes are used for mailbox creation one after another in rotation, and mailboxes are unifirmly distributed between them.
This Property Pattern item is effective in the Create Mailbox dialog only. |
Full Name
value generation: the value is generated automatically on creating users and is composed of the First Name and Last Name properties (%firstname% %lastname%). For example, if First Name value is John and Last Name value is Doe, the value of the Full Name property is generated automatically as John Doe.
set as required.
Home Directory Drive
possible values: drive letters from 'C:' to 'Z:'.
User Logon Name
value generation: the value is generated automatically on creating and editing users and is composed of the User Logon Name (pre-Windows 2000) property (%samAccountName%). For example, if User Logon Name (pre-Windows 2000) value is JDoe, the value of the User Logon Name property is generated automatically as JDoe.
Initially, the activity scope for built-in Property Patterns includes all objects. It means that these Property Patterns are applied when objects are created or modified in any location in Managed Domains. However, you can delete this assignment and assign any built-in Property Patterns on resources on which you want to apply it. Or you can just exclude the resources for which you do not want this Property Pattern to be effective.
