Using Softerra Adaxes, you can create Exchange mailboxes for Active Directory users.
To create Exchange mailboxes you need to have the 'Write Exchange Attributes' permission. This permission is granted by the built-in 'Exchange Recipient Manager' Security Role.
To create Exchange mailboxes for Active Directory users:
Log in to the Adaxes Web Interface.
Click the Browsing tab in the top navigational menu.
Click the domain that contains users, for which you want to create mailboxes, and then select their location.
-or-
Click Browse above the list of managed domains and select the container in which the users you need are located.
In the list of AD objects, check the users you need, click Exchange Tasks in the On Selection menu and select the Create Mailbox command.
If the Exchange Tasks submenu is not available, it means that Microsoft Exchange is not installed in the AD domain, where the selected users are located. |
The Create Mailbox command is not available, when the user already has a mailbox or external e-mail address. This command is disabled for disabled user accounts. For multiple selections this command is always available, however, mailboxes will not be created for disabled users, or users, who has a mailbox or external e-mail address. |
At the Create New Mailbox page that opens, specify an alias for the mailbox of the selected user.
If you have selected several users, use value references to specify a unique alias for each user.
A value reference is a pattern of text that contains the name of the property it refers to. These patterns are replaced with the property values of each user. So, each user will get an alias composed from its own property values. For example, you can enter the following pattern: %firstname%%lastname%. This pattern will be replaced with the values of First Name and Last Name properties of each user. If the resulting value contains invalid characters, these characters will be removed. |
The default alias value is determined by Property Patterns. To set another default value for Exchange aliases, you need to configure the corresponding Property Pattern. |
Select the mailbox store, where the mailbox will be located. Click Create.
If you have multiple mailbox stores and create mailboxes for multiple users, you may want their mailboxes to be distributed over several mailbox stores or created in the mailbox store that contains the least number of mailboxes:
To create mailboxes in several mailbox stores by turn, check the mailbox stores, where you want to allow creating mailboxes, and select In rotation order (by turn) in the combo-box below. Each successive mailbox will be created in the next mailbox store in the turn.
To create mailboxes in the mailbox store with the least number of mailboxes, check the mailbox stores, where you want to allow creating mailboxes, and select Containing the least number of mailboxes. Mailboxes will be created in the mailbox store with the least number of mailboxes among the mailbox stores you have checked. The number of mailboxes is checked before each operation.
The default settings for the mailbox store choice are determined by Property Patterns. To set another default settings for the mailbox store choice, you need to configure the corresponding Property Pattern. |
The results of the mailbox creation will be displayed. Click OK.
